Most general NZ motor insurers do not write motorcycle policies — motorcycles are a separate underwriting class, typically handled by specialist underwriters.

Specialist motorcycle insurers in NZ include Star Insure and Protecta. Some general insurers (Vero via broker) write motorcycles as a commercial / specialty line.

Cover for riding gear (helmet, jacket, gloves, boots) is often included under a motorcycle policy — confirm sub-limits.

Track-day or off-road use is usually excluded from standard policies and needs a specific endorsement or separate policy.
